THREE COLUMN NOTES STRATEGY
DEFINITION:
The three column notes strategy will allow students to use the columns to write a question, an answer, and an example. This type of graphic organizer will help students look more deeply into a word or phrase, putting it into question form, finding an answer to the question they have written, and providing an example of the word/phrase within context that they may come across again.
This is an excellent strategy as the student must first research what the term or phrase they are struggling with is but then use an example of that word or phrase. Having each word or phrase in an example, students are able to see it being used and have a much easier time relating to what the meaning is.

STEPS TO USING THE THREE COLUMN NOTE STRATEGY:
1. Students will select a term or phrase that they do not have much knowledge about and put that term into the first column in the form of a question.
2. In the second column, the student will answer the question that they had asked in the first column.
3. In the third column, the student will give an example of using that word or phrase in a sentence.
